The City of Montevallo is one of over 25 municipalities across the State of Alabama participating in A State of Teal. Mayor Hollie Cost recently issued a proclamation declaring September 12 as GYN Cancer Awareness Day. In conjunction with the city's awareness efforts, they will be conducting a special ceremony at the Montevallo High School home football game on Friday evening, September 12, which will include a teal balloon release at the start of the game. The CanSurvive GYN Cancer Support Group, the Laura Crandall Brown Ovarian Cancer Foundation and the Norma Livingston Ovarian Cancer Foundation have worked together to encourage awareness to GYN cancers during the month of Septembeer. This includes proclamations issued by numerous cities and teal lightings of municipal buildings and businesses across the state.
