Raising awareness to the symptoms of gynecologic cancers is a very important mission and could ultimately save women’s lives. An important facet of the he Laura Crandall Brown Foundation's mission is to raise awareness to the symptoms of these diseases. For this reason, the Foundation is sponsoring a campaign known as “A State of Teal”. Volunteers are working hard to reach out to cities, counties and businesses across the State of Alabama to invite them to participate during the month of September which is National Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month.

“A State of Teal” is designed to raise awareness of GYN cancers, the impact of these cancers on Alabamians, and the need for research and improved screening tests. In accordance with this campaign, the City Council of the City of Childersburg recognized our awareness initiative by issuing a proclamation declaring September Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month in the City of Childersburg. On hand to accept the proclamation will be Childersburg long-time resident and GYN cancer survivor, Gail McCarrick. Special thanks to Mayor Jimmy Payne and the council for their recognition of our efforts at raising awareness thorugh this important campaign.
