A State of Teal awareness campaign kick-off will be held from 5:15 to 8:00 p.m. at The Club in Birmingham.  The evening’s theme is Game Night. There will be an opportunity for attendees to socialize and to play games such as “Guess the # of Ovaries,” Giant Jenga, Scattergories and Boggle Brain, we well as solve a GYN awareness crossword puzzle. Our emcee will be local comedian Joy, Queen of Clean.

The program begins at 6:15 and will include a memorial ceremony and a survivor celebration led by women who whose lives have been impacted by these cancers.  The MAKing A Difference Band will provide the live music.

The main event of the evening will be Game Night.  Gynecologic oncologists give women with GYN cancer their best chance in this game called life, so they will be game contestants along with selected audience members.  The Laura Crandall Brown Foundation and its CanSurvive GYN Cancer Support Group and the Norma Livingston Ovarian Cancer Foundation have been working diligently to arrange for prominent buildings in Birmingham and surrounding municipalities to be lit in teal for part or all of September. Many of these are within 5 miles of The Club and attendees will be encouraged to go see them after the program.   The general public is welcome to attend.  Be advised that tickets are advance tickets only and should be ordered by August 27. Tickets are $25 and the event tee shirt (must be ordered in advance) is an additional $10-12.
